Giving the finger sculpture
I saw this on the BBC News site about a sculpture in Milan that despite being offensive to some people is staying on display. The piece by well-renowned controversial Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, I feel is very realistically carved from Carrara marble. I can see why it would upset the sensibilities of some people, but I like it.
On the other hand Cattelan’s piece featuring Pope John Paul II being struck by a meteorite although having recently sold for three million dollars is not very realistic. If a meteorite had hit the Pope, he would, I am sure suffer a lot more horrific injuries than depicted, in fact, I think he would be nothing more than a rather large crimson smear!

Jesus in the Marmite
A recent news article of great importance made its way to the BBC News website, a family found the image of Jesus on the lid of a jar of Marmite. Firstly I feel for the kids of that family, to me Marmite (or Vegemite if you’re Australian) is a vile concoction.
I wonder how long before the lid appears on an auction site and some numpty pays a bloody fortune for it.
To me, is looks more like Frank Zappa than Jesus, but I guess an image of Zappa wouldn’t fetch so much.

A face only a mother could love – maybe
Last week I came across a story on the BBC News site, about an ex-mayor of a northern English village. He was recently jailed for breaking into homes and stealing women’s underwear. Although he apparently did stuff to some of the underwear and put them back in the drawer, I don’t think I want to know what he did.
Looking at his picture I have to say he looks like the sort to steal someone’s underwear!
